2014 Journal of my dream AAHi All,
Its been a while since I have started a new thread and hope that this journal will be more helpful for the survival of AA as well as other methods adopted and discovery.
My 2014 AA season begins in 30th July with purchase of 20pcs of AA, 5 of which is twice the size bigger. The remaining 15pcs is slight a inch tall, from tip to bottom.
Tank Condition:
Bare tank: 2x1.5x1.5
Water PH: 3.7
Bagged AA: 8
The tank has been soaked with Sera Peat Moss for 2 weeks, with only sponge filter. Achieved a PH of 3.7 in the tank while the bagged is PH of 8. During the drip, the bagged water is top up back into the tank and thus causing the PH to increase. Took about 6 hours of slow dripping and re-filling back into the QT tank.
During the dripping, 1pc small AA died. The suspect maybe due to the poor health of the AA.
19pcs released into the tank with PH of 5.
Medication: With WC daily around 5% to remove dirt and poo.
Dosing of furan 2 (3x sachet) +API fungus cure(1sachet) on 2nd day.
Dosing of furan 2 (3xsachet) on 4th day
Heater set in at 32degC as columnaris suspected on day 5.
Dosing of furan 2 (2x sachet + tetracycline (1 sachet) on 6th day
Another casualty in between due to malnutrition. Diet on diced FBW.
Changed diet to live tubifex worm on day 8 as the AA is accepting the FBW too slowly and health deteriorate at faster rate.

Bro ang31i0v3r, thanks for sharing this experience of yours with us. It does help us to understand better about taking care of them.
Thanks kong. keeping a note here for me as well so that when I grow old, I can look back and see what I have written.
11th August 2014
All the 18pcs of AA is surviving and no further sign of columnaris and also appetite regained. Will further feed with live tubifex worm till end of the week and slowly convert back to FBW.

Do take note of gill diseases. You can add tetracycline for precaution or look into it more. Perhaps you can share more close up pix around the gill area.

Normally I will spend about 1-2 hrs a day just looking at them and getting to know each of them, in term of health condition, diet and to differentiate them apart as well. If any is unwell, I can quickly have action plans rather then to wait for outbreak.
